Uno de los objetivos de la presente tesis doctoral es la determinaci\u00f3n del mecanismo a trav\u00e9s del cual ocurre la modificaci\u00f3n. Para ello es necesario primero conocer el mecanismo de oxidaci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmico de aminas alif\u00e1ticas, es decir, determinar si se trata de un mecanismo secuencial o concertado y determinar posteriormente cual es la especie responsable del ataque a la superficie, el cati\u00f3n radical o el radical formado en la etapa qu\u00edmica posterior a la transferencia electr\u00f3nica.  los experimentos de voltametr\u00eda c\u00edclica han permitido determinar que las aminas alif\u00e1ticas que presentan enlaces c-h en posici\u00f3n   respecto del grupo amino se oxidan a trav\u00e9s de un mecanismo ec secuencial, es decir, donde la etapa de transferencia electr\u00f3nica y la reacci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica asociada de primer orden suceden por etapas. Los experimentos de electr\u00f3lisis a potencial controlado demuestran que la reacci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica asociada a la etapa de transferencia electr\u00f3nica es la desprotonci\u00f3n del cati\u00f3n radical a trav\u00e9s de la rotura del enlace c-h en posici\u00f3n  . La evoluci\u00f3n del radical formado da lugar a la obtenci\u00f3n de la amina de orden inferior y el correspondiente aldehido.  una vez conocido el mecanismo de oxidaci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmico la caracterizaci\u00f3n de las superficies modificadas por xps permiten confirmar la formaci\u00f3n del enlace metal &#8211; nitr\u00f3geno. Los experimentos irras con especies deuteradas demuestran que es el radical formado en la etapa qu\u00edmica posterior a la transferencia electr\u00f3nica el responsable del ataque a la superficie.
