Pero que se complementen algunas de sus caracter\u00edsticas con las de otras vin\u00edferas de reconocido prestigio como cabernet-sauvignon, merlot, rubi-cabernet, syrah y tempranillo.  as\u00ed, durante tres cosechas consecutivas, se han vendimiado y elaborado vinos monovarietales de cada una de las variedades mencionadas con maceraciones cortas y largas, y tambi\u00e9n se han realizado vinificaciones binarias entre monastrell con cabernet-sauvignon y merlot en diferentes proporciones (covinificaci\u00f3n). se han estudiado las caracter\u00edsticas de estos vinos (color, compuestos fen\u00f3licos y aromas) y tambi\u00e9n se les ha sometido a una evaluaci\u00f3n sensorial (cata) por parte de expertos.  se ha concluido que las maceraciones largas mejoran notablemente la aptitud de los vinos para ser sometidos a crianza, especialmente los de las variedades complementarias, y que entre las vin\u00edferas estudiadas, las m\u00e1s adecuadas para complementar a la monastrell son cabernet-sauvignon y merlot. La calidad de la monastrell est\u00e1 muy condicionada por las condiciones de cultivo y cuando \u00e9stas son las adecuadas, las uvas de monastrell poseen una alta calidad y sus vinos son similares o
