Dicha depuraci\u00f3n precisa una serie de etapas, una de las cuales, la fase biol\u00f3gica se realiza habitualmente mediante la residencia de fluido durante largo tiempo en un reactor de gran tama\u00f1o, de modo que se posibilite la reactividad bacteria- fluido.  ante los amplios tiempos de residencia y los tama\u00f1os enormes de las cubas, surgen nuevas t\u00e9cnicas que exijan requisitos espaciales y temporales menores.  la t\u00e9cnica de la pel\u00edcula biol\u00f3gica en suspensi\u00f3n se basa en el crecimiento de la biomasa en soportes pl\u00e1sticos que se mueven en el reactor biol\u00f3gico mediante la agitaci\u00f3n generada por sistemas de aireaci\u00f3n. En esta tecnolog\u00eda el efluente es introducido en el reactor donde los microorganismos, descomponedores de los elementos contaminantes, crecen formado una pel\u00edcula org\u00e1nica en los elementos portadores que flotan en el fluido.  el dise\u00f1o de los portadores es fundamental puesto que una buena transferencia del substrato y del oxigeno a la pel\u00edcula biol\u00f3gica es esencial para un buen rendimiento del sistema.  No obstante este es precisamente un problema para el acceso a la tecnolog\u00eda puesto que los dise\u00f1os son patentados y por tanto dejan al instalador a expensas del fabricante.  esta tesis presenta el dise\u00f1o de nuevos elementos portadores para el lecho fluido, patentables y espec\u00edficos que presenten mejores rendimientos de intercambio y permitan una independencia del fabricante nacional, incluyendo todas las etapas, desde la caracterizaci\u00f3n de los par\u00e1metros b\u00e1sicos hasta la determinaci\u00f3n de su proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n, para lo cual se
