El esttudio de este proceso sobre superficiese monocristalinas de platino, ha puesto de manifiesto la alta sensibilidad de \u00e9sta en platino hacia los sitos con geometr\u00eda (100) , donde cas\u00ed de manera exclusiva tiene lugar la reacci\u00f3n. A su vez y mediante superficies escalonadas, se ha observado la sensibilidad no s\u00f3lo a los sitios con geometr\u00eda (100), con respecto a los otros dos planos de base de platino. Desde un punto de vista m\u00e1s aplicado, tras el estudio de esta reacci\u00f3n con superficies monocristalinas se pas\u00f3 a trabajar con nanopart\u00edculas. Por un lado se han sinterizadoy caracterizado nanopart\u00edculas con una orientaci\u00f3n preferencial (100) , con lo que se han obtenido resultados muy interesantes para esta reacci\u00f3n tan sensible a los sitios con esta geometr\u00eda, demostr\u00e1ndose as\u00ed la importancia de la t\u00e9cnica de preperaci\u00f3n de nanopart\u00edculas en la superficie de \u00e9stas y por lo tanto en su actividad catal\u00edtica en muchas reacciones sensibles a la estructura.
