Dentro de este contexto, el objetivo general de nuestro trabajo ha sido doble: a)por un lado, revisar la teor\u00eda y los principales avances que se han producido en la investigaci\u00f3n sobre aprendizaje autorregulado y motivaci\u00f3n en los \u00faltimos quince a\u00f1os;   b) analizar emp\u00edricamente la motivaci\u00f3n y las estrategias de aprendizaje que utilizan los alumnos de 2o curso de la eso (educaci\u00f3n secundaria obligatoria), y en concreto, en relaci\u00f3n a una materia especifica: las matem\u00e1ticas. Como parte de nuestro trabajo emp\u00edrico, hemos llevado a cabo, en primer lugar, el estudio de la fiabilidad y estructura de dos cuestionarios: el patterns of adaptive learning study (pals) y el motivated strategies for learning questionnaire (mslq). En segundo lugar, y con la ayuda de tales instrumentos, hemos obtenido una fotograf\u00eda del alumno de la eso respecto a su motivaci\u00f3n y a las estrategias de aprendizaje que emplea cuando
