Mutaciones slug de p\u00e9rdida de funci\u00f3n contribuyen al piebaldismo y al s\u00edndrome de waardenburg de tipo 2 de forma dependiente de la dosis. Sin embargo, se conoce poco acerca de la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de slug en estado patol\u00f3gico y en desarrollo embrionario. Estudiamos una duplicaci\u00f3n de slug en un ni\u00f1o con una \u00fanica duplicaci\u00f3n de novo 8q11.2?Q13.3, asociada con tetralog\u00eda de fallot, cierre del paladar submucoso, anomal\u00edas renales, hipoton\u00eda y retraso en el desarrollo. Para comprobar los efectos de la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de slug en desarrollo y en c\u00e1ncer, generamos ratones que poseen un transgen slug reprimible mediante tetraciclina. Estos ratones eran morfol\u00f3gicamente normales al nacer, y desarrollaron tumores mesenquimatosos (leucemias y sarcomas)  en la mayor\u00eda de los casos examinados. La supresi\u00f3n del transgen slug no rescat\u00f3 el fenotipo  maligno. Asimismo, el oncog\u00e9n bcr-abl, que induce la expresi\u00f3n de slug en c\u00e9lulas leuc\u00e9micas, no provoc\u00f3 leucemia en ratones deficientes en slug, implicando a  slug en la leucemogenesis bcr-abl in vivo. Adem\u00e1s, en los ratones adultos, hab\u00eda un 20% de incidencia de muerte s\u00fabita, cardiomegalia y fallo cardiaco, asociado con una incipiente tumorog\u00e9nesis mesenquimal. Los datos indican que mientras que la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de slug no es suficiente para producir defectos morfogen\u00e9ticos evidentes en ratones,  puede contribuir directamente al fenotipo cardiaco
