Las giberelinas estan implicadas en la transformacion del ovario de la flor en fruto en desarrollo. Los ovarios no polinizados pueden ser inducidos a fructificar mediante la aplicacion exogena de acido giberelico (ga3), dando lugar a frutos partenocarpicos, sin semillas. El objetivo principal del trabajo ha sido el estudio de los cambios en la expresion genica durante la fructificacion inducida por ga3. El escrutinio diferencial de una genoteca de cdna de ovarios tratados con ga3 con sondas + (procedentes del mrna de ovarios tratados) y &#8211; (de no tratados) ha permitido aislar 4 clones diferenciales cuya expresion era reprimida (loxg) o activada (g14, g17 y g19) por el tratamiento con ga3. Loxg es una lipoxigenasa (lox). Su expresion es constante en ovarios no inducidos pero es parcialmente reprimida tras inducirse la fructificacion.  la actividad lox tambien decrece en ovarios de guisante y tomate tratados con ga\/, sugiriendo que este es un fenomeno extendido en plantas durante la fructificacion.  existe un patron de expresion similares todos los organos estudiados que implica la represion de loxg a lo largo del desarrollo: el mayor nivel de expresion se observa durante los primeros estadios del crecimiento de cada organo y luego disminuye progresivamente hasta que deja de expresarse cuando el tejido deja de crecer. La expresion de loxg esta asociada al potencial de crecimiento de los tejidos donde se expresa. G14 podria ser una proteina estructural de localizacion generalizada en la planta del guisante.
