La regi\u00f3n hla en el cromosoma 6 ha sido propuesta como la principal implicada en la susceptibilidad a esta enfermedad (concretamente los genes hla de clase ii, dr y dq). As\u00ed, m\u00e1s del 90% de los pacientes celiacos presentan el alelo dq2, mientras que una minor\u00eda presenta el alelo dq8.     en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, se ha sugerido la existencia de un segundo locus de susceptibilidad en la regi\u00f3n hla, cerca del gen hla-b, que podr\u00eda tener un efecto independiente a los genes de clase ii. Uno de los genes candidatos situado en esta regi\u00f3n es el gen mica (mhc class i chain-realted a gene). Este gen codifica una prote\u00edna que se expresa en condiciones de estr\u00e9s en el tejido gastrointestinal y que activa a c\u00e9lulas del sistema inmune. El objetivo de este estudio es determinar la implicaci\u00f3n de mica en la enfermedad celiaca.     los resultados de este trabajo muestran una asociaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica de un polimorfismo del gen mica con ec, aunque se debe al desequilibrio de ligamiento con los genes hla de clase ii. Por otra parte, desde el punto de vista funcional, parece existir una implicaci\u00f3n de mica en el inicio de la respuesta inmune innata que se desarrolla en el intestino de pacientes celiacos, como consecuencia directa de la exposici\u00f3n al gluten de la mucosa intestinal, mientras que no parece tener un papel importante en la respuesta inmune que se tiene lugar en las etapas avanzadas de la
