Todos los resultados sugieren que el transplante de dichas c\u00e9lulas promueve la neuroprotecci\u00f3n mediante la potenciaci\u00f3n controlada de los procesos pro-inflamatorios y neo-angiog\u00e9nicos durante la fase aguda de la lesi\u00f3n medular.  con el objetivo de evaluar los efectos regeneradores de la gl\u00eda envolvente se transplantaron tras una secci\u00f3n completa de la m\u00e9dula espinal. Los resultados muestran que el transplante de gl\u00eda envolvente promueve una recuperaci\u00f3n parcial de las habilidades locomotoras como consecuencia de la regeneraci\u00f3n y re-conexi\u00f3n de los axones supraespinales con la motoneuronas lumbares. Adem\u00e1s, dicho efecto se observa tanto si el transplante se realiza inmediatamente o bien 45 d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de la lesi\u00f3n, y abre la esperanza para la utilizaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica de estas c\u00e9lulas. A pesar de ello, la recuperaci\u00f3n funcional que se obtiene es limitada. Por esa raz\u00f3n nos propusimos potenciar los efectos reparadores del transplante de gl\u00eda envolvente con el tratamiento farmacol\u00f3gico (terapia f\u00e1rmaco-celular). Para ello, se prob\u00f3 la eficacia protectora de distintos f\u00e1rmacos, eligiendo el fk506 como f\u00e1rmaco a combinar por ser el m\u00e1s efectivo en promover neuroprotecci\u00f3n. Los resultados obtenidos con la terapia f\u00e1rmaco-celular en la lesi\u00f3n fotoqu\u00edmica, y en la secci\u00f3n completa de la m\u00e9dula espinal, muestran que el doble tratamiento promueve un efecto reparador sin\u00e9rgico, resultando en un mayor incremento de las respuestas funcionales, de la neuroprotecci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como de la regeneraci\u00f3n
