De todos los mabs obtenidos, se eligio el jrr1 y se caracterizo la naturaleza quimica del epitopo que reconocia, llegandose a la conclusion de que era b-1, 6-glucano.  una vez determinada la naturaleza quimica del epitopo reconocido por el mab jrr1, se puso de manifiesto la existencia de uniones directas entre el glucano y las manoproteinas de la pared celular. La utilizacion de este mab junto con la del mab 1b12, cuyo epitopo es de naturaleza proteica, ha permitido el estudio del ensamblaje y la localizacion en la pared celular de los antigenos reconocidos por estos mabs, presentando el epitopo 1b12 una localizacion superficial y el jrr1 una localizacion subcortical. Por ultimo y tomando como modelo el proceso de regeneracion de la pared en los protoplastos, se analizo la secrecion e incorporacion de dichos antigenos en la pared
