Asimismo, se estudia su posicionamiento estetico en el entorno musical de su epoca y se describe su trayectoria existencial, centrada alrededor de su actividad como musico. Se realiza la catalogacion exhaustiva de su obra de compositor, con mas de 450 composiciones pertenecientes a diferentes generos, entre las que sobresalen sus canciones y \u00ablieder\u00bb, con mas de 130 titulos. Por otra parte, tambien se recoge su produccion poetica y literaria, con una aportacion importante de critica musical.  en la parte central del estudio se analiza la produccion liedistica de palau como sintesis globalizadora de su pensamiento estetico.
