Por este motivo este sector demanda alternativas a la utilizaci\u00f3n del cromo hexavalente en este proceso. La presente tesis doctoral aborda el objetivo de sustituir el cromo hexavalente en el proceso de metalizaci\u00f3n de pl\u00e1sticos utilizando disolventes y\/o oxidante combinados en una o m\u00e1s etapas. Los distintos tratamientos ensayados son evaluados comparativamente con el tratamiento convencional en base a la calidad del recubrimiento obtenido y la caracterizaci\u00f3n de la superficie del material pl\u00e1stico despu\u00e9s del tratamiento. La caracterizaci\u00f3n de la superficie se realiza utilizando t\u00e9cnicas de inteferometr\u00eda \u00f3ptica y afm para evaluar la rugosidad y sem para evaluar la morfolog\u00eda. La calidad del recubrimiento obtenido se eval\u00faa mediante la inspecci\u00f3n visual del grado de metalizaci\u00f3n y aspecto de los dep\u00f3sitos de n\u00edquel qu\u00edmico y la adherencia de los recubrimiento de n\u00edquel qu\u00edmico y cobre electrol\u00edtico. Las formulaciones de disolventes con base acuosa utilizadas no permiten obtener recubrimientos de n\u00edquel qu\u00edmico con buena adherencia. El uso de disolventes exentos de agua como paso \u00fanico o combinado con oxidantes moderados produce recubrimientos adherentes de n\u00edquel qu\u00edmico pero no de cobre electrol\u00edtico.
