El trabajo combina el an\u00e1lisis emp\u00edrico de los resultados con una base m\u00e1s te\u00f3rica y generalista. Este ambicioso prop\u00f3sito se aborda desde tres perspectivas complementarias: la optimizaci\u00f3n e investigaci\u00f3n de los materiales con potencial aplicabilidad, una aproximaci\u00f3n fenomenol\u00f3gica a la teor\u00eda f\u00edsica subyacente, y finalmente la implementaci\u00f3n en dispositivos reales. los materiales estudiados, as\u00ed como los dispositivos fabricados con ellos, re\u00fanen  las cualidades de alta polarizaci\u00f3n de esp\u00edn de los portadores y temperatura de curie por encima de temperatura ambiente, de tal manera que poseen propiedades magnetorresistivas incluso a temperatura ambiente, haci\u00e9ndolos de gran inter\u00e9s para el nuevo sector tecnol\u00f3gico basado en la espintr\u00f3nica. Dichos materiales y dispositivos son los siguientes: dobles perovskitas ordenadas, aleaciones heusler, magnetita, manganita, uniones t\u00fanel magn\u00e9ticas planares y v\u00e1lvulas de esp\u00edn. Debido a la variedad de problemas cient\u00edficos tratados en la tesis, se han usado una gran cantidad de t\u00e9cnicas experimentales con elevadas prestaciones: difracci\u00f3n de polvo de rayos x, electrones y neutrones t\u00e9rmicos, preparaci\u00f3n de muestras por reacci\u00f3n de estado s\u00f3lido y por el m\u00e9todo de descarga de arco, microscopias electr\u00f3nicas de barrido y de transmisi\u00f3n, altos campos magn\u00e9ticos continuos (12 tesla) y pulsados (60 tesla), resistividad dc y ac por el m\u00e9todo de cuatro puntas, magnetoestricci\u00f3n y dilataci\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica por el m\u00e9todo de galgas extensiom\u00e9tricas, magnetometr\u00eda squid, moke y vsm y por \u00faltimo t\u00e9cnicas de crecimiento de pel\u00edculas delgadas (pulverizaci\u00f3n cat\u00f3dica, deposici\u00f3n por haces de iones, perfilometr\u00eda).   en primer lugar se aborda la optimizaci\u00f3n de la temperatura de curie (tc) y la magnetorresistencia de dobles perovskitas
