Adem\u00e1s se emplearon t\u00e9cnicas de microscop\u00eda \u00ed\u00b2ptica confocal y de epidluorescencia, microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de transmisi\u00f3n y de barrido para localizar in situ en el tejido de la ascidia la microbiota asociada. Por otra parte, se profundiz\u00f3 en la interacci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica entre la ascidia y sus simbiontes estudiando procesos metab\u00f3liticos tales como la fototrof\u00eda anozig\u00e9nica aerobia y fijaci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno por parte de la comunidad procariota. Paralelamente se realizaron ensayos de actividad antitumoral de extractos crudos de la ascidia y partes de la misma con el fin de determinar y localizar la s\u00edntesis del compuesto con actividad
