El silenciamiento se ha realizado mediante transformaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica de plantas con agrobacterium portadoras de pl\u00e1smidos que conten\u00edan los genes en antisentido plc (que codifica para una pectatoliasa) cel 2 (para una celulasa) o spg (para una poligalacturonasa). El an\u00e1lisis molecular de numerosas l\u00edneas transformadas ha demostrado inequ\u00edvocamente la inserci\u00f3n de dichos genes en el genoma vegetal. Posteriormente se ha realizado una evaluaci\u00f3n agron\u00f3mica de las plantas transformadas durante varias cosechas y, en l\u00edneas seleccionadas por su producci\u00f3n y firmeza de fruto, un an\u00e1lisis m\u00e1s minucioso de la calidad del mismo y su comportamiento en postcosecha. A parte de este estudio a nivel de planta completa, se han hecho an\u00e1lisis moleculares de expresi\u00f3n de los genes en las l\u00edneas de mayor inter\u00e9s y un an\u00e1lisis de la pared celular en el caso de algunas l\u00edneas transformadas con el gen plc en antisentido (apel).  finalmente se ha llevado a cabo un estudio histol\u00f3gico de los frutos en plantas controles y transg\u00e9nicas apel y acel. Cabe destacar la obtenci\u00f3n de l\u00edneas con una mayor firmeza externa e interna del fruto en el caso de las transformaci\u00f3n con plc y sp g en antisentido, que no se detect\u00f3 en el caso de cel2. Adem\u00e1s se ha demostrado que existe una correlaci\u00f3n entre la firmeza del fruto de algunas l\u00edneas apel y los niveles de inhibici\u00f3n de la expresi\u00f3n del gen plc.
