Ante la falta de conocimiento de las caracter\u00edsticas de las cepas espa\u00f1olas se analiz\u00f3 y estudi\u00f3, mediante t\u00e9cnicas bioqu\u00edmicas, serol\u00f3gicas y moleculares, una colecci\u00f3n de  \u00e9stas, procedentes de diferentes or\u00edgenes. Se confirm\u00f3 que todas las cepas pertenec\u00edan al biovar 2. Sus caracter\u00edsticas bioqu\u00edmicas fueron homog\u00e9neas, mientras que, con el uso de t\u00e9cnicas serol\u00f3gicas y moleculares, se evidenci\u00f3 cierta variabilidad entre las mismas.  debido a que la dispersi\u00f3n del pat\u00f3geno tiene lugar mediante la propagaci\u00f3n de material vegetal asintom\u00e1tico y por el agua de riego, tambi\u00e9n se pusieron a punto m\u00e9todos serol\u00f3gicos y moleculares de uso rutinario para la detecci\u00f3n sensible y espec\u00edfica de r. Solanacearum. El protocolo de detecci\u00f3n serol\u00f3gica desarrollado se bas\u00f3 en la t\u00e9cnica elisa-dasi con anticuerpos monoclonales y con enriquecimiento previo. El l\u00edmite de detecci\u00f3n de r. Solanacearum a partir de muestras de patata fue de 1-10 cfu\/ml de extracto de patata (caruso et al., 2002). El m\u00e9todo de detecci\u00f3n molecular se bas\u00f3 en la utilizaci\u00f3n de la pcr cooperativa e hibridaci\u00f3n con sonda espec\u00edfica y posterior revelado colorim\u00e9trico, para mejorar la detecci\u00f3n y facilitar su aplicaci\u00f3n en rutina. este m\u00e9todo se mostr\u00f3 muy sensible y permiti\u00f3 la detecci\u00f3n de hasta una c\u00e9lula de r.
