Los mon\u00f3meros de flavanoles derivatizados se separaron eficientemente del crudo de extracci\u00f3n mediante cromatograf\u00eda de intercambio i\u00f3nico, debido a la carga neta introducida al derivatizar. Posteriormente fueron purificados por cromatograf\u00eda en fase reversa c18 obteniendo los correspondientes derivados de epicatequina, catequina y epicatequin 3-o-galato conjugados con cisteina, o-etilcisteina y n-acetil-o-metilcisteina. Dichos compuestos presentaron un mayor capacidad antiradicalaria que la correspondiente epicatequina mediante ensayos con los radicales linbres dpph (el cual se reduce v\u00eda donaci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3genos y\/o por transferencia electr\u00f3nica) y hnttm (el cual se reduce solo por transferencia electr\u00f3nica). En general, los compuestos que conten\u00edan el grupo g\u00e1lico fueron los que generaron una mayor capacidad antiradicalaria en ambos estudios. Tambi\u00e9n se realizaron estudios in vitro con lineas tumorales humanas de melanoma (a375 y m21) y de colon (ht29) y con una l\u00ednea no tumoral de queratinocitos (hacat), observ\u00e1ndose una moderada inhibici\u00f3n en la viabilidad celular, siendo los compuestos que conten\u00edan un grupo galato los que presentaron mayor efectividad. a nivel de ciclo celular, solo los derivados que conten\u00edan el grupo g\u00e1lico presentaron una alteraci\u00f3n en el cicclo, aumentado la fase s. Igualmente se les observ\u00f3 una mayor inducci\u00f3n de la apoptosis en las linias tumorales, pero no en la l\u00ednea no tumoral de queratinocitos. Dicha inducci\u00f3n a la apopotosis se corrobor\u00f3 con otras t\u00e9cnicas en las que se observ\u00f3  condensaci\u00f3n de cromatina y la fragmentaci\u00f3n del adn. Sorprendentemente, uno delos derivados que conten\u00eda un grupo galato no present\u00f3 alteraci\u00f3n en el cilco celular ni indujo apoptosis en las c\u00e9lulas tumorales.
