En las pilas de combustible de \u00f3xido s\u00f3lido (sofc), el c\u00e1todo y el \u00e1nodo est\u00e1n separados por un electrolito cer\u00e1mico, que debe tener alta conductividad de i\u00f3n \u00f3xido, buena compatibilidad qu\u00edmica con los electrodos y baja expansi\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica. Uno de los candidatos m\u00e1s prometedores para reemplazar a la ysz como electrolito en pilas sofc, es el sistema tipo apatito, de f\u00f3rmula general a10-x(mo4)6o2+ (siendo a un cati\u00f3n trivalente, por ejemplo la; y m un tetravalente, por ejemplo si). Los oxoapatitos de lantano presentan altos valores de conductividad de ion \u00f3xido como consecuencia de la existencia de un mecanismo de conducci\u00f3n intersticial en lugar del t\u00edpico mecanismo a trav\u00e9s de vacantes presente en conductores de ion \u00f3xido con estructura fluorita o perovskita.  se han determinado las estructuras cristalinas de diversas series de oxoapatitos de lantano a temperatura ambiente y elevadas temperaturas utilizando el m\u00e9todo de rietveld con datos de difracci\u00f3n de neutrones, tanto de longiitud de onda constante como de tiempo de vuelo. Algunas de las composiciones estudiadas han sido:  la9.33(sio4)6o2,  la9.33(si0.5ge0.5o4)6o2,  la9.50(si0.916al0.083o4)o2, la9.50(ge0.916al0.083o4)6o2,  la8sr2(sio4)6o2  y  la8sr2(geo4)6o2, todas ellas estequiom\u00e9tricas en ox\u00edgeno. La presencia de ge y\/o al da lugar a enlaces m\u00e1s flexibles que aumentan la cantidad de o intersticial y por tanto de vacantes de ox\u00edgeno en el eje c. Tambi\u00e9n se han estudiado composiciones con exceso de ox\u00edgeno, como es el caso de la9.55(sio4)6o3.32,  la9.60(geo4)6o2.4, y   la9sr1(si5.5al0.5o24)o2.25.  Al tener contenidos en ox\u00edgeno superiores a 26, todas presentan aniones \u00f3xido en una posici\u00f3n diferente de la del o(4) ya que en este sitio cristalogr\u00e1fico no
