En este trabajo se aborda el estudio del dimorfismo sexual de estos g\u00e9neros, utilizando para ello diferentes marcadores moleculares.  los mejillones engloban a las especies dioicas de esta clase con las que m\u00e1s estudios de todo tipo se han realizado hasta el momento actual. Por otra parte, las navajas son organismos cuyo inter\u00e9s cient\u00edfico se encuentra en auge debido a su creciente potencial econ\u00f3mico. Los mecanismos que propician la diferenciaci\u00f3n sexual en ambos casos todav\u00eda est\u00e1n comenzando a esclarecerse, por ellos mytilus y ensis son utilizadas en este trabajo como punto de partida a la hora de abordar el poco documentado dimorfismo sexual de los bivalvos a nivel molecular.  el an\u00e1lisis del comportamiento de las cinco mitocondrias paternas contenidas en el espermatozoide de m. Galloprovincialis muestra que estas penetran en el interior del \u00f3vulo durante la fecundaci\u00f3n. Tras la misma, permanecen viables en el interior del 56,4% de los zigotos analizados, agregadas y sin dividirse hasta al menos la tercera divisi\u00f3n mit\u00f3tica, donde pueden ser vistas en el micr\u00f3mero 1d. Este \u00faltimo, dar\u00e1 lugar a la formaci\u00f3n de la g\u00f3nada en individuos adultos, con lo que las mitocondrias paternas quedan confinadas a las c\u00e9lulas gonadales de individuos macho.  los polimorfismos rapd generados, mostraron una elevada sensibilidad en la identificaci\u00f3n de diferencias moleculares entre sexos en m. Galloprovincialis, donde el loci denominado mg-aba5-750 present\u00f3 porcentajes de efectividad cercanos al 80%. En e. Arcuatus cuatro de los loci estudiados (ea-aba2-500, ea-aba3-700, ea-aba7-750 y ea-aba11-750) pose\u00edan porcentajes de efectividad cercanos al 70% de presencia en machos y ausencia en las hembras.
