En esta tesis se analiza este hecho y se pone de manifiesto que dicha compensaci\u00f3n, en ocasiones, no solo no disminuye esa energ\u00eda disipada, sino que la aumenta. Se muestra que el desequilibrio de las cargas es un factor determinante de las p\u00e9rdidas. Se determinan las condiciones de m\u00ednimas p\u00e9rdidas, que resultan ser las de carga equilibrada y factor de potencia unidad. Por medio de un estudio te\u00f3rico muy completo se muestra que es posible conseguir el equilibrio de cualquier carga conectada a una l\u00ednea trif\u00e1sica y, simult\u00e1neamente, llevar su factor de potencia a cualquier valor entre cero y uno. Estas dos acciones se pueden realizar conectando en paralelo con la carga solo reactancias, por lo que no se incrementa el consumo de potencia activa ni se modifican las condiciones de funcionamiento de la carga inicial. Se realizan los c\u00e1lculos que determinan el valor de estas reactancias en funci\u00f3n de diversos par\u00e1metros de la carga. Por  \u00faltimo se describe el prototipo de un equipo autom\u00e1tico, construido en el laboratorio, que mantiene el equilibrio de cualquier carga variable y su factor de potencia en un valor
