En esta etapa se caracterizan tanto los lodos como el adsorbente obtenido con el objetivo de estudiar la influencia de sus caracter\u00edsticas y el tama\u00f1o de part\u00edcula en el mecanismo de adsorci\u00f3n. En la segunda etapa experimental se extienden  los resultados a lodos de procedencia nacional muestreados de una edars de la provincia de matanzas, cuba y se incluye el m\u00e9todo de activaci\u00f3n utilizado y generalizado en el pa\u00eds (m\u00e9todo f\u00edsico con vapor de agua).  los resultados obtenidos evidencian la factibilidad ambiental y econ\u00f3mica de la aplicaci\u00f3n de la activaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica con vapor de agua en la elaboraci\u00f3n de carbones activados. Estos adsorbentes se emplean en la remoci\u00f3n de fenol presente  en residuales de la empresa de laboratorios de productos  biol\u00f3gicos de matanzas (labiofam). La novedad de la investigaci\u00f3n radica en que se obtiene un nuevo adsorbente que permitir\u00e1 sustituir, de manera competitiva, las importaciones actuales de carb\u00f3n
