La comprensi\u00f3n de las fuerzas que rigen el empaquetamiento cristalino (enlaces de covalentes, enlaces de hidr\u00f3geno, interacciones d\u00e9biles, ..) Es de vital importancia en el dise\u00f1o racional de nuevos materiales funcionales magn\u00e9ticos. el \u00e1cido mal\u00f3nico se presenta como un ligando muy fruct\u00edfero en la preparaci\u00f3n y dise\u00f1o de nuevos materiales moleculares magn\u00e9ticos a la luz de los resultados obtenidos. Una gran variedad de estructuras cristalinas, desde mon\u00f3meros hasta pol\u00edmeros de coordinaci\u00f3n de estructura mono-, bi- y tridimensional se presentan en este trabajo. La caracterizaci\u00f3n magneto-estructural de estos compuestos ha permitido realizar una investigaci\u00f3n de los factores que controlan el empaquetamiento cristalino de los complejos de malonato y por consiguientes las propiedades magn\u00e9ticas que presentan estos compuestos.     el estudio magneto-estructural se organiza atendiendo el centro paramagn\u00e9tico utilizado y la dimensionalidad de la red cristalina. Los centros paramagn\u00e9ticos utilizados en la preparaci\u00f3n del as nuevas especies de malonato caracterizadas han sido los siguientes: metales de transici\u00f3n de la primera serie [cu(ii), co(ii), ni(ii) y mn(ii)], lant\u00e1nidos [ce(iii), sm(iii), y ho(iii)], mn(iii) y cr(iii). las propiedades magn\u00e9ticas de las nuevas especies se explica atendiendo a la
