Estos procesos revisten una especial importancia en el comportamiento mitocondrial de la c\u00e9lula eucariota, donde se produce la mayor\u00eda de las especies reactivas de ox\u00edgeno (eros).  en la presente tesis se ha estudiado la glutarredoxina 2 (grx2p) de la levadura saccharomyces cerevisiae. Se ha encontrado una nueva actividad para la grx, en la que \u00e9sta puede catalizar la reducci\u00f3n del glutati\u00f3n por lipoamida reducida, compuesto que tan s\u00f3lo se encuentra en el interior de la mitocondria. La grx2p de s. Cerevisiae resulta ser especialmente eficiente en este proceso, en comparaci\u00f3n con otras glutarredoxinas, lo que apunta a  un posible significado fisiol\u00f3gico a\u00fan por determinar.  tambi\u00e9n se ha encontrado varias isoformas de la grx2p, que se encuentran repartidas entre el citosol, el ret\u00edculo endopl\u00e1smico y la membrana externa y la matriz  mitocondriales, todas procedentes del gen grx2, que da lugar a dos productos fde traducci\u00f3n diferenciados por la presencia o no de una presecuencia se\u00f1al para mitocondr\u00eda y ret\u00edculo endopl\u00e1smatico. Mediante t\u00e9cnicas de mutag\u00e9nesis dirigida y estudios de importancia in vivo e in vitro de la grx2p y sus formas mutantes, se ha determinado que un fen\u00f3meno de doble naturaleza  (barrido imperfecto-traslocaci\u00f3n ineficiente), no descrito hasta ahora, es el responsable de la peculiar distribuci\u00f3n subcelular de los productos del gen grx2 en s. Cerevisiae.  se abre de este modo un interesante campo para futuras investigaciones en las que se determine qu\u00e9 funci\u00f3n o funciones fisiol\u00f3gicas justifican la selecci\u00f3n evolutiva
