A los componentes ya conocidos de liberacion de calcio de depositos intracelular y entrada a traves de canales dependientes de voltaje, a\u00f1adimos ahora una via capacitativa de entrada de calcio modulado por el nivel de llenado de los depositos intracelulares.  el glutamato es capaz de inducir el incremento de la (ca2+) c en las celulas adenohipofisarias. En las celulas gh3 el efecto se debe a la entrada de calcio desde el medio extracelular a traves de canales dependientes de voltaje activados por la despolarizacion inducida por el transporte electrogenico de glutamato. En las celulas adenohipofisarias normales los efectos de glutamato se deben a la existencia de receptores de aminoacidos excitatorios.  el glutamato puede ser un nuevo factor liberador de prolactina
