Sin embargo, mientras que la producci\u00f3n anual de harinas de pescado est\u00e1 estabilidad alrededor de 6-7 milones de toneladas, la acuicultura se expande a una tasa del 11% anual existinedo, de esta modo, una seria procupaci\u00f3n acerca de la disponibilidad de esta fuente de alimento como materia prima en la formulaci\u00f3n de dietas para su empleo en dichos sector. Dado que los ingredientes de origen vegetal son disponibles concierta facilidad, en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os han recibido la mayor parte de la atenci\u00f3n como posibles sustitutos a las harinas de pescado. en una primera experiencia, juveniles de dorada (sparus aurta)fueron alimentados con dietas confeccionadas con harinas de pescado e ingredientes vegetales 33-35% de sustituci\u00f3n a las que se a\u00f1adieron amino\u00e1cideos libres para cumplir los requerimientos de amini\u00e1cidos esenciales iaa y no esenciales daa, evalu\u00e1ndose por lun lado el perfil de iaa del m\u00fasculo esqueletico y del conjunto del organismo y, por otro lado, el cociente iaa\/daa, que se modific\u00f3 mediante la adicci\u00f3n a las dietas de diferentes cantidades de \u00e1cido glut\u00e1mico. La conversi\u00f3n del alimento y la retenci\u00f3n proteica empeoraron con el descenso del cociente iaa\/daa. Estos rerusltados estuvieron  en consonancia con la respuesta del eje somatr\u00f3pico, observ\u00e1ndose un aumento en los niveles ciruclantes de igf-i y un descenso en los niveles circulantes de hormona del crecimiento gh en aquellos peces alimentados con la dieta que imitaba el perfil iaa del m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico y conun cociente iaa\/daa pr\u00f3ximo a 1,1.
