En las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas , tanto los avances inform\u00e1ticos como el conocimiento previo de diversas t\u00e9cnicas de simulaci\u00f3n computacional aplicadas con \u00e9xito en otras ramas de la ciencia, han proporcionado las herramientas necesarias para abordar problemas tan complejos como la din\u00e1mica inherente a la formaci\u00f3n de la estructura terciaria de las prote\u00ednas: \u00abthe protein folding problem\u00bb. la funci\u00f3n de las prote\u00ednas est\u00e1 directamente relacionada con su estructura tridimensional (estructura nativa). Los defectos de plegamiento ocasionan fallos en su funci\u00f3n que pueden ser causa de enfermedades y procesos degenerativos. En nuestro trabajo nos hemos centrado en una serie de casos particulares de inter\u00e9s cl\u00ednico y biol\u00f3gico, en los que se analiz\u00f3 la din\u00e1mica del proceso de plegamiento, y caracteriz\u00f3 los diversos factores que influyen sobre la estabilidad conformacional del conjunto molecular. uno de nuestros trabajos m\u00e1s destacables ha sido el an\u00e1lisis de la estabilidad estructural de una peque\u00f1a prote\u00edna modular que es parte importante del receptor biol\u00f3gico encargado de controlar el nivel de colesterol en la sangre: el receptor de lipoprote\u00ednas de baja densidad (ldl-r). Los defectos gen\u00e9ticos en esta prote\u00edna de membrana dan lugar a la enfermedad conocida como hipercolesterolemia familiar. nuestros resultados, obtenidos usando simulaci\u00f3n molecular, han ayudado a caracterizar el impacto estructural\/funcional originado por mutaciones detectadas cl\u00ednicamente en pacientes. Este estudio nos ha permitiendo sentar las bases de un m\u00e9todo de diagnosis computacional con un alto valor de predicci\u00f3n sobre mutaciones a\u00fan no detectadas cl\u00ednicamente y que
