El presente trabajo se plantea como objetivo determinar, a traves de tecnicas de doble marcado anterogrado e inmunocitoquimico, si los terminales axonicos de la via espinoperiacueductal contienen niveles elevados de glutamato y si establecen contacto sinaptico sobre neuronas que expresan las variantes de receptores metabotropicos del glutamato 1a, 1b, 1c y 5a.  los terminales espinoperiacueductales poseen una inmunoreactividad media, cuantificada mediante la tecnica inmunocitoquimica del inmuno-oro, mayor del doble que sus dendritas postsinapticas, cuerpos celulares y terminales de tipo inhibitorio, y entre 5 y 6 veces mayor que la glia.  no observamos contacto sinaptico alguno de terminales espinoperiacueductales sobre dendritas inmunoreactivas frente a las
