Se ha observado que el epitelio digestivo de los moluscos presenta una enorme variabilidad den la composici\u00f3n celular, y en moluscos expuestos a contaminantes ambientale, se han observado cambios en la composici\u00f3n celular del epitelio digestivo. Se desconocen los mecanismos de proliferaci\u00f3n y regeneraci\u00f3n del epitelio digestivo, nuestra hip\u00f3tesis est\u00e1 basada en la idea de que la renovaci\u00f3n epitelial se produce mediante la divisi\u00f3n aut\u00f3loga de las c\u00e9lulas maduras existentes en el epitelio, pero dicha renovaci\u00f3n puede verse afectada por diferentes variables ambientales. Se han seleccionado tres modelos de moluscos, el mejill\u00f3n (mytilus galloprovincialis), el b\u00edgaro (littorina littorea) y el limaco (arion ater) para este estudio. Se han cuantificado, utilizando inmunohistoqu\u00edmica del marcador de la fase s bromodeoxiuridina (brdu), las c\u00e9lulas prolfierativas del epitelio digestivo en diferentes condiciones ambientales. Por otro lado, tambi\u00e9n se ha provocado un cambio en la composici\u00f3n celular de los alv\u00e9olos digestivos mediante la exposici\u00f3n de organismos  varias contaminantes org\u00e1nicos e inorg\u00e1nicos y se ha realizado un estudio sobre la composici\u00f3n celular del epitelio digestivo en animales cr\u00f3nicamente expuestos a metales pesados con el fin de determinar la influencia
