El umahlp tiene aplicaciones a campos como el reparto de correo postal, el tr\u00e1fico a\u00e9reo o las telecomunicaciones, mientras que el splpo generaliza el ampliamente conocido problema de localizaci\u00f3n de plantas simple (simple plant location problem, splp) teniendo en consideraci\u00f3n las preferencias de los clientes, algo de gran importancia para tener modelos m\u00e1s precisos y realistas.  esta tesis se divide en seis cap\u00edtulos y tres partes: transfondo matem\u00e1tico (cap\u00edtulo 1), localizaci\u00f3n de concentradores (cap\u00edtulos 2 y 3) y localizaci\u00f3n con preferencias (cap\u00edtulos 4,5 y 6).  comienza con un cap\u00edtulo de preliminares que introduce conceptos b\u00e1sicos de programaci\u00f3n matem\u00e1tica as\u00ed como la notaci\u00f3n que se emplear\u00e1 a lo largo de texto (teor\u00eda poli\u00e9drica, cortes de chv\u00e1tal-gomory, el problema de empaquetamiento de conjuntos&#8230;).  la parte sobre localizaci\u00f3n de concentradores est\u00e1 dividida en dos cap\u00edtulos. el cap\u00edtulo 2 es una revisi\u00f3n de problemas de localizaci\u00f3n de concentradores. en primer lugar, se introduce los diferentes tipos de problemas de localizaci\u00f3n de concentradores y se enumera las principales contribuciones en la literatura a este campo. Despu\u00e9s, se centra en la formulaci\u00f3n del umahlp: se describe c\u00f3mo ha evolucionado la formulaci\u00f3n inicial de este problema hasta que se obtiene la m\u00e1s ajustada en la actualidad. Esta \u00faltima formulaci\u00f3n constituye la base del siguiente cap\u00edtulo.  en el cap\u00edtulo 3, se resuelve el umahlp mediante un algoritmo exacto basado en una t\u00e9cnica de ascenso dual.
