Por eso son los principales materiales para la fabricaci\u00f3n de diodos led y l\u00e1seres en azul y uv. Sin embargo las capas compactas crecidas epitaxialmente aun sufren por su dif\u00edcil dopaje tipo-p y altas densidades de defectos cristalinos extendidos. Los defectos degradan sustancialmente las propiedades \u00f3pticas y el\u00e9ctricas del material y el funcionamiento de los dispositivos fabricados.  las estructuras nanocolumnares basadas en nitruros presentan una alternativa para evitar los inconvenientes del material compacto, puesto que tienen una excepcional calidad cristalina, presentando ausencia de defectos extendidos, y por lo tanto alta eficiencia \u00f3ptica .  la tesis doctoral se centra en el crecimiento por epitaxia de haces mol\u00e9culares (molecular beam epitaxy, mbe) y caracterizaci\u00f3n de estructuras nanocolumnares de nitruros de grupo iii (gan, algan e ingan) as\u00ed como de heteroestructuras nanocolumnares: nanocolumnas con discos cu\u00e1nticos (quantum disks, qdisks), diodos de homo- y heterounion y nanocavidades columnares que incluyen espejos de bragg,  con vistas a su aplicaci\u00f3n en los dispositivos optoelectr\u00f3nicos. las t\u00e9cnicas de caracterizaci\u00f3n estructural y \u00f3ptica (sem, tem, pl, cl y espectroscop\u00eda raman) aplicadas aportan la informaci\u00f3n necesaria para la optimizaci\u00f3n de las condiciones de crecimiento. Se emprendi\u00f3 un estudio detallado de la fase de nucleaci\u00f3n y como resultado se propone un modelo para explicar el crecimiento nanocolumnar. Finalmente, los primeros diodos led nanocolumnares han sido procesados y caracterizados, demostrando de tal forma su potencial para la fabricaci\u00f3n de dispositivos
