La tesis se centra en el estudio de la bios\u00edntesis y degradaci\u00f3n de este pol\u00edmero. La bios\u00edntesis del  (1,3)-glucano es llevada a cabo por mok1p durante el crecimiento vegetativo. No se ha detectado la presencia de actividad  (1,3)-glucanasa en s. Pombe, sin embargo en el genoma de esta levadura existen dos orfs que codifican para dos prote\u00ednas, agn1p y agn2p, con alta identidad con enzimas descritas con  (1,3)-glucanasas en otros hongos. en la parte que analiza la degradaci\u00f3n del  (1,3)-glucano se demuestra que agn1p y agn2p son enzimas con actividad  (1,3)-glucanasa. Agn1p es necesario para que la separaci\u00f3n celular ocurra correctamente. Agn1+ se expresa c\u00edclicamente y la prote\u00edna se localiza en el septo de separaci\u00f3n, siendo la enzima responsable de la degradaci\u00f3n del  (1,3)-glucano del anillo de pared celular presente en la regi\u00f3n del septo. en la parte que analiza la bios\u00edntesis del  (1,3)-glucano se caracterizan las prote\u00ednas mok11p, mok12p, mok13p y mok14p, estas prote\u00ednas presentan una alta identidad y similitud con la  (1,3)-gluc\u00e1n sintasa mok1p. Mok12p, mok13p y mok14p son necesarias para que el proceso de formaci\u00f3n de las ascosporas ocurra con normalidad. Mok12p se localiza en las membranas de las ascosporas y sintetiza un  (1,3)-glucano necesario para que las ascosporas se empaqueten correctamente y sean viables. Mok13p se localiza en las membranas de las ascosporas al principio del proceso de formaci\u00f3n de las mismas y sintetiza un  (1,3)-glucano necesario para que las ascosporas sean resistentes a distintas condiciones de estr\u00e9s. Mok14p sintetiza  (1,4)-glucano que da a las esporas el color marr\u00f3n caracter\u00edstico en presencia de vapores de yodo. Este pol\u00edmero participa en la resistencia de las esporas a distintos tipos de estr\u00e9s.
