Adem\u00e1s, se ha sugerido que estos enzimas proteol\u00edticos juegan un importante papel en diversos procesos patol\u00f3gicos, como enfermedad de alzheimar, enfisema pulmonar, artritis reumatoide e invasi\u00f3n tumoral y met\u00e1stasis. hasta el comienzo de este trabajo se hab\u00edan descrito y caracterizado a nivel de secuencia aminoac\u00eddica, ocho ciste\u00edn-proteasas humanas pertenecientes a la superfamilia de la papa\u00edna:catepsina b,catepsina l, catepsina h, catepsina s, catepsina c,catepsina o, catepsina k y catepsina w.  dado que parece claro que el grupo de las ciste\u00edn-proteasas juega papeles fundamentales tanto en procesos normales como patol\u00f3gios, incluyendo procesos tumorales, en este trabajo nos dispusimos a examinar la posibilidad de que existan nuevos miembros sin caracterizar de esta familia de enzimas proteol\u00edticos producidos por tejidos tumorales humanos.  mediante el uso de una novedosa estrategia, hemos podido identificar y caracterizar funcionalmente tres nuevas ciste\u00edn-proteasas humanas: catepsina l2, catepsina z y catepsina f, as\u00ed como caracterizar la estructura g\u00e9nica de la catepsina o, una ciste\u00edn-proteasa aislada a partir de un carcinoma humano, que se localiza en 4q31-32. Todas ellas son proteasas activas de la familia de la papa\u00edna, con caracter\u00edsticas diferenciales entre ellas.  as\u00ed, la catepsina l2, que guarda una identidad de secuencia del 80% con la catepsina l, pertenece al grupo de ciste\u00edn-proteasas de expresi\u00f3n restringida en el organismo, expres\u00e1ndose, unicamente, en tipo y test\u00edculo, donde se le supone una funci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica. Su expresi\u00f3n aberrante forma parte del fenotipo tumoral de carcinomas diversos, pero muy especialmente de los de colon y mama.  la catepsina z, con u<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
