Con alquenos se forman exclusivamente 4,5-dihidrotiofenos y con reactivos acetil\u00e9nicos se originan 2-piridonas, junto con tiofenos en algunas reacciones.  para explicar la formaci\u00f3n de uno u otro tipo de compuestos en las reacciones estudiadas se popone un mecanismo de reacci\u00f3n en el que el primer paso consite en la formaci\u00f3n del cicloaducto inicial por un proceso (3+2); a continuaci\u00f3n el cicloaducto puede evolucionar mediante dos rupturas alternativas,dependiendo de la naturaleza de los substituyentes del heterociclo  mesoi\u00f3nico. As\u00ed, en unos casos se rompe el enlace carbono cabeza de puente-nitr\u00f3geno endoc\u00edclico y el intermedio se reordena originado la sb-lactamas, tiadiazoles, dihidrotiofenos y tiofenos, seg\u00fan los reactivos; en otros casos se produce la escisi\u00f3n del enlace carbono cabeza de puente-azufre, dando lugar a un tiolato intermedio que evoluciona para formar los tiiranos, las triaxzinonas o las piridonas seg\u00fan los casos.  las asgnaciones estructurales est\u00e1n por an\u00e1lisis cristalogr\u00e1ficos de rayos-x de monocristal junto con datos espectrosc\u00f3picos de resonancia magn\u00e9tica nuclear e infrarrojo.  los c\u00e1lculos te\u00f3ricos semiemp\u00edricos (pm3), predicen la regioespecificidad y diastereoselectividad encontradas en los casos
