El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar el efecto de esta prote\u00edna sobre el desarrollo neuronal. Para ello, empleamos cultivos primarios de astrocitos, neuronas y oligodendrocitos de rata. En este trabajo se muestra que la albumina estimula la s\u00edntesis de \u00e1cido oleico por los astrocitos a partir de los sustratos metab\u00f3licos disponibles durante el desarrollo del cerebro, esto es glucosa, lactato y cuerpos cet\u00f3nicos. El \u00e1cido oleico es liberado por los astrocitos, muy probablemente como complejo \u00e1cido graso-alb\u00famina y es utilizado por las neuronas para la s\u00edntesis de fosfol\u00edpidos, principalmente fosfatidilcolina y fosfatidiletanolamina. El \u00e1cido oleico se incorpora espec\u00edficamente en las bases de las neuritas y su presencia promueve la expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna asociada al crecimiento(gap-43) y el agrupamiento de las neuronas por sus cuerpos celulares resultando en conjunto la diferenciaci\u00f3n neuronal.
