T\u00e9cnicamente, la correcta medida de la eficiencia permite dise\u00f1ar adecuadamente las instalaciones y racionalizar el consumo de la energia electrica. Esto \u00faltimo, afecta beneficiosamente al medio ambiente y tambi\u00e9n repercute positivamente en el coste de las instalaciones el\u00e9ctricas. La eficiencia en un sistema el\u00e9ctrico esta delimitada por diferentes fen\u00f3menos que se manifiestan durante la transferencia de energia. Uno de los aspectos fundamentales de la presente tesis doctoral ha sido la de identificarlos e interpretarlos correctamente, como paso necesario para obordar la medida. desde antiguo han sido numerosas las teor\u00edas que se han establecido para definir estos fen\u00f3menos. Entre los m\u00e1s importantes se destacan las de budeanu y fryze, a principios de los a\u00f1os 30, y la de czarnecki, de gran difusi\u00f3n actual. En la tesis se han analizado criticamente estas teor\u00edas y se ha comprobado que no determinan adecuadamente la eficiencia, dado que no interpretan bien los fen\u00f3menos energ\u00e9ticos en los sistemas el\u00e9ctricos, a saber: transferencia de energia transformable, desfase, asimetr\u00eda y distorsi\u00f3n, cuyo significado y efectos difieren de los conocidos hoy en d\u00eda.  la medida de estos fen\u00f3menos constituye la principal aportaci\u00f3n de esta tesis doctoral. Los equipos de medida actuales, tanto los que est\u00e1n comercializados como los que est\u00e1n en fase de investigaci\u00f3n, no cuantifican con exactitud los efectos de cada fen\u00f3meno energ\u00e9tico cuando las excitaciones son ineficientes; no existiendo dispositivos que midan las ineficiencias provocadas por los desequilibrios de tensiones. En la tesis se ha establecido un sistema integral de medida de la potencia electrica (simpelec) basado en la teoria unificadora de la potencia el\u00e9ctrica que permite la medida de la eficiencia y
