Se describe la situaci\u00f3n y evoluci\u00f3n del subsistema educativo en alava desde la ley moyano hasta la guerra civil espa\u00f1ola en 1936, y los movimientos y resistencias de los poderes del antiguo r\u00e9gimen. De esta manera se revela el objeto y axiolog\u00eda del subsistema educativo alav\u00e9s y su entronque en la formaci\u00f3n del sistema nacional de educaci\u00f3n.  el estudio recoge el conjunto de las manifestaciones e instituciones educativas, as\u00ed como su evoluci\u00f3n, y el sentido que \u00e9stas adquieren en la dualidad formada por una capital de provincia (vitoria) a caballo entre lo rural y lo urbano, compuesta por una burgues\u00eda ilustrada y por tanto pr\u00f3xima a las tendencias liberales, y el resto de la provincia caracterizada por lo rural, donde m\u00e1s cal\u00f3 tradicionalismo carlista. Ambas cosmovisiones dar\u00e1n lugar a dos formas de entender la educaci\u00f3n, aunque participando ambas del fuerismo y del autonomismo educativo.  en el conjunto de la tesis se vislumbra la influencia de la iglesia en una sociedad con un fuerte paso tradicionalsita, lo cual determin\u00f3 los estilos y entramado idel\u00f3gico de la educaci\u00f3n en alava durante el peri\u00f3do
