Virtudes <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>El desarrollo de la tesis se ha planteado dentro de un proyecto que busca nuevas dianas para la acci\u00f3n de farmacos que pudieran ser utiles en el tratamiento de los deficits neurologicos que acompa\u00f1an los procesos de isquemia cerebral. Los canales ionicos cada vez juegan un papel mas preponderante en las respuestas fisiologicas y patologicas de un gran numero de tipos celulares, y la regulacion por segundos mensajeros y la modulacion farmacologica de estos, es una de las direcciones hacia las que se espera que avance la terapeutica. En esta tesis se ha intentado profundizar en el conocimiento a nivel molecular de los mecanismos fisiopatologicos mediante los que se produce la muerte neuronal en respuesta a isquemia. Para ello se ha estudiado el efecto de la isquemia en distintos sistemas implicados en la fisiolog\u00eda de la celula como: (a) liberacion de amino\u00e1cidos, especialemnte glutamato, aspartato y gaba en rodajas de hipocampo de rata sometidas a isquemia. (b)estudio del potencial de membrana de las neuronas piramidales en cultivo tras exposicion a isquemia. (C) se ha identificado el efecto del tratamiento isquemico in vitro sobre las corrientes de na+ que aparecen en las neuronas de hipocampo en respuesta a estimulos despolarizantes. (D)se  ha estudiado el efecto de la isquemia sobre la viabilidad celular en cultivos de neuronas de hipocampo y (e) el efecto del tratamiento isquemico in vitro sobre los canales ionicos dependietnes de ligando y en concreto, sobre canales tipo nmda y sobre el potencial mitocontrial y la produccion del anion super\u00f3xido en cultivos neuronales.
