El modelo patron de traumatismo perforante presenta en su evolucion natural signos de proliferacion intraocular que no provocan desprendimiento de retina.  la inyeccion de 0,2 ml. De sangre autologa en cavidad vitrea provoca la aparicion de desprendimientos de retina. La extraccion de 0,2 ml. De vitreo antes de la inyeccion de la misma cantidad de sangre, aumenta de manera significativa los desprendimientos de retina, tanto frente al modelo patron de traumatismos perforante como al modificado en el que solo se inyecto sangre.  la 5-fluorouridina en administracion intravitrea se ha mostrado ineficaz para modificar los cambios proliferativos y la aparicion de desprendimientos de
