El factor de transcripci\u00f3n c-myc reconoce la secuncia cacgtg, identificada en elementos de respuesta a glucosa en genes implicados en el control de la gloc\u00f3lsis y e la lipog\u00e9nesis hepatica. Se han generado ratones transgenicos que sobreexpresan el gen c-myc bajo el control del promotor del gen de la fosfoenolpiruvato carboxiquinasa(pepck). Los ratones transgenicos presentan un incremento en la captaci\u00f3n, utilizaci\u00f3n y almacenamiento de la glucosa a nivel hepatico. Por otra parte, un incremento en la proteina c-myc es capaz de contrarrestrar las alteraciones diabeticas a traves de su capacidad de inducir la captacion y la utilizacion hepatica de glucosa y de bloquear la activacion tanto de la gluconeogenesis como de la cetog\u00e9nesis. por tanto, este modelo corrobaria in vivo que un incremento en la captaci\u00f3n y utilizacion de glucosa seria una aproximacion util para disminuir la hiperglucemia diabetica.  el musculo esqueletico contribuye en alrededor de un 75% en la eliminacion de la glucosa del torrente sanguineo despues de la ingesti\u00f3n de alimentos. durante un proceso diabetico, el musculo esqueletico es incapaz de captar glucosa de la sangre. En este estudio se han generado ratones transgenicos que expresan insulina humana en este tejido. La produccion de insulina humana biologicamente activa a nivel muscular lleva a un aumento en la captaci\u00f3n y en la utilizaci\u00f3n de la glucosa por parte de este tejido. Adem\u00e1s, tras la induccion de diabetes experimental mediante estreptozotocina, estos animales presentan un disminuci\u00f3n de la hiperglucemia diabetica, asi como una normalizaci\u00f3n del metabolismo muscular y hepatico.
