Carmen <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En la fraccion arcillosa del suelo, filosilicatos y \u00f3xidos son constituyentes que destacan por sus propiedades para fijar metales. Para profundizar en los estudios sobre retenci\u00f3n de metales pesados en suelos, se seleccionaron tres minerales de arcilla (montmorillonita,caolinita y vermiculita) y dos oxihidr\u00f3xidos amorfos (ferrihidrita y birnesita). Se determinaron sus caracteristicas quimicas y superficiales (composici\u00f3n, textura porosa, carga superficial, etc.). Asi mismo, se determinaron las isotermas de sorci\u00f3n de metales (pb,cu,ni,zn y cd), tanto individuales como competitivas, a ph inicial 5; y de ellas se dedujo que la capacidad de retenci\u00f3n sigue la secuencia: birnesita &gt; vermiculita &gt; ferrihdrita &gt; montmorillonita &gt; caolinita. Pb y cu presentaron mayor afinidad que ni, zn y cd. Las isotermas a ph variable permitieron estimar la influencia de esta variable en la retenci\u00f3n de cada metal. Para conocer el metal intercambiable con ca(ii), se realiz\u00f3 una extracci\u00f3n sobre el residuo s\u00f3lido en las isotermas anteriores. Los resultados indicaron un dominio del intercambio i\u00f3nico en vermiculita, y a ph \u00e1cidos para montmorillonita y caolinita.
