Utilizando como material de partida un mutante afectado en el gen gpm1, que codifica la fosfoglicerato mutasa, hemos aislado una serie de mutantes portadores de mutaciones supresoras de los efectos t\u00f3xicos de variso az\u00facares para esta cepa.  una de las mutaciones caracterizadas que suprimia especificamente la toxicidad de galactosa, result\u00f3 afectar al gen gal 4, un regulador de la s\u00edntesis de los genes gal. En un mutante gal4 con baja expresi\u00f3n de los genes gal, el consumo de galactosa  es bajo y se libera la represi\u00f3n catab\u00f3lica de una serie de genes que permiten al mutante original crecer en presencia de esta az\u00facar.  se ha aislado un mutante con una mutaci\u00f3n dominante, ddr2-1 que suprime los efectos de glucosa, fructosa y galactosa. El flujo glocol\u00edtico no est\u00e1 afectado por esa mutaci\u00f3n. Durante el crecimiento en glicerina +etanol+glucosa, los niveles de metabolitos ensayados en el mutante ddr2-1 fueron similares a los de la cepa parental, excepto en el caso de las triosas fosfato que eran ligeramente mayores en el mutante. La caracterizaci\u00f3n del gen respondable de la mutaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 en curso.  otros mutantes aislados estaban afectados en la hexoquinasa 2 o en la fosfofructoquinasa. estos mutantes
