Los modelos te\u00f3ricos desarrollados incluyen el electrodo activo, un fragmento de cornea y una porci\u00f3n limitada de c\u00e1mara anterior. Ansys 5,4, programa basado en el m\u00e9todo de los elementos finitos, ha sido utilizado para la resoluci\u00f3n del problema electrot\u00e9rmico caracterizado por la ecuaci\u00f3n de trasnferencia de calor en tejidos biol\u00f3gicos.Los resultados derivados del modelo te\u00f3rico han sido constrastados con los obtendios en un modelo experimental (in vitro) sobre ojos de conejo albino.  los modelos te\u00f3ricos han sido utilizados para el estudio de diferentes tipos de electrodos (superficiales, intraestromales, refrigerados y en forma de anillo) valorando en cada caso el efecto de diferentes par\u00e1metros sobre la distribuci\u00f3n de temperaturas en el interior de la cornea. Electrodos superficiales permiten obtener lesiones adecuadas pero numerosas aplicaciones ser\u00edan requeridas con objeto de cambiar por completo la curvatura de la cornea. Los electrodos intraestromales generan lesiones m\u00e1s profundas pero producen la rotura del col\u00e1geno y no son indicados. Los electros refrigerados son los que mejor perfil t\u00e9rmico logran pero son costosos y su empleo cl\u00ednico m\u00e1s complejo. Se concluye que los electrodos en forma de anillo generan una lesi\u00f3n con una geometr\u00eda \u00f3ptima para la utilizaci\u00f3n en termoqueratoplastia por radiofrecuencia, de manera pr\u00e1ctica y sencilla.  los resultados tambi\u00e9n sugieren que existe una serie de factores que afectan de manera importanate a la lesi\u00f3n creada, como la dispersi\u00f3n en las caracter\u00edsticas biol\u00f3gicas de los tejidos, la presi\u00f3n electrodo-cornea, la anisotrop\u00eda t\u00e9rmica de la cornea, la existencia de la fina capa lagrimal, y el voltaje y duraci\u00f3n programados.
