En la comunidad autonoma vasca, entre 1990 y 1992, se comprob\u00f3 que salmonella es el responsable de m\u00e1s de la mitad de los brotes de origen alimentario declarados. En dicho periodo, en el 91% de los hospitalizados afectados por brotes de toxiinfecciones, el agente causal fue salmonella, lo que indica la importancia del control y prevenci\u00f3n de toxiinfeciones producidas por este agente. A ra\u00edz de lo descrito anteriormente, el objetivo general de este trabajo fue el desarrollar diversas tecnicas moleculares y en concreto geneticas, como marcadores epidemiol\u00f3gicos de salmonella spp. Se desarrollaron y evaluaron las siguientes tecnicas:an\u00e1lisis de proteinas totales, eric-pcr,rapd-pcr, uso del iniciador  m13 y la novedosa tecnica de irs-pcr. Los resultados fueron comparados con los datos de fagotipificaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, en la pcr se hizo un estudio de optimizaci\u00f3n y reproducibilidad entre 2 laboratorios con 2 termocicladores distintos.  los resultados de este trabajo llevan a las conclusiones de que el analisis de perfiles de proteinas totales no se recomienda como marcador epidemiol\u00f3gico. las tecnicas de pcr discriminan entre los distintos serotipos de salmonella spp. Analizados. En general, la discriminaci\u00f3n en salmonella enteriditis con las tecnicas moleculares es moderada, apoyando la hip\u00f3tesis de clonalidad de este serotipo, y adem\u00e1s una estabilidad del genotipo de s.
