Dicho estudio se llev\u00f3 a cabo a trav\u00e9s de la evaluaci\u00f3n, en linfocitos de sangre perif\u00e9rica, de los siguientes marcadores citog\u00e9neticos: las binuclueadas con micronucleos(bnmn), los intercambios entre crom\u00e1tidas hermans (sce) y las roturas en la mol\u00e9cula del dna(a trav\u00e9s del ensayo del cometa). Para lograr este objetivo se desarrollaron dos tipos de analisis: una longitudinal, donde el grupo expuesto era analizado previamente a tratado con yodo-131 varios a\u00f1os antes del estudio se compar\u00f3 con un grupo control.  de la evaluaci\u00f3n de los resultados obtenidos con el biomarcador de bnmb, tanto en los estudios longitudinales como en el transversal, se estableci\u00f3 que la terapia con el 131i induc\u00eda da\u00f1o cromos\u00f3mico inestable: roturas y p\u00e9rdidas cromos\u00f3micas. Adem\u00e1s, en el grupo de pacientes de hipertiroidismo, las bnmn se induc\u00edan en funci\u00f3n de las distintas actividades de yodo-131 administradas. Asimismo, el da\u00f1o cromos\u00f3mico inestable inducido por la radiaci\u00f3n ionizante puede ser detectado en los linfocitos de los pacientes expuestos al cabo de un a\u00f1o, y posiblemente, entre 1 y 3 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de la terap\u00eda con el radion\u00faclido. Por otro lado, teniendo en cuenta que un aumento de las alteraciones cromos\u00f3micas puede estar relacionado con un aumento del riesgo de sufrir complicaciones de tipo gen\u00e9tico a largo plazo, debido a la inducci\u00f3n de bnmn por parte de la terapia con yodo-131.  con relaci\u00f3n a los resultados obtenidos mediante el estudio de la frecuencia de sce, la radiaci\u00f3n ionizante de baja let generada por la emisi\u00f3n del radiois\u00f3topo yodo-131, internamente incorporado en los pacientes, no induce aumentos en los niveles de sce, lo que refuerza el concepto de que la
