Se suplement\u00f3 a ratas gestantes con tript\u00f3fano y se trabaj\u00f3 con su descendencia. Se estudi\u00f3: la neurotransmisi\u00f3n seroton\u00e9rgica en cerebro anterior y posterior, en hipot\u00e1lamo y en \u00e1rea pre\u00f3ptica media, la funci\u00f3n hipofisaria y la incidencia de tumores hipofisarios y mamarios.  estos trabajos demuestran que el tript\u00f3fano administrado a ratas gestantes tienen las siguientes consecuencias sobre la descendecia: primero, una facilitaci\u00f3n de la neurotransmisi\u00f3n seroton\u00e9rgica central que persiste durante la vida adulta, afectando a la regulaci\u00f3n de la liberaci\u00f3n de hormonas hipofisarias. Segundo, se observa un aumento notable en el porcentaje de adenomas mamarios e hipofisarios; los animales que desarrollan tumores presentan hiperactividad del sistema serton\u00e9rgico y aumento de la prolactina y progesterona en sangre. Tercero, los tumores observados se deben a un adelanto en el timpo de los tumores que las ratas suelen presentar como consecuencia del envejecimiento. En conjunto estos resultados sugieren que la serotonina ejerce un papel nurotr\u00f3fico durante los estadios iniciales del desarrollo cerebral.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la
