Pero sin duda, otra disciplina que se ha beneficiado enormemente del estudio del genoma mitocondrial es la gen\u00e9tica forense ya que este genoma re\u00fane una serie de caracter\u00edsticas (modo de herencia, tasa de mutaci\u00f3n&#8230;) que le confieren aplicaciones muy concretas en este campo. As\u00ed se justifica el an\u00e1lisis del adnmt en aquellas muestras altamente degradadas en donde falla el empleo de marcadores nucleares (ej.: Restos \u00f3seos de gran antiguedad o parcialmente degradados) o muestras que no presentan adn nuclear.  el uso del adnmt no est\u00e1 exento de dificultades. Tales dificultades vienen generadas no s\u00f3lo por la propia biolog\u00eda de este genoma, sino tambi\u00e9n por la complejidad t\u00e9cnica que el an\u00e1lisis implica.  el presente trabajo de tesis estudia la variabilidad molecular del adnmt desde diversas perspectivas relacionadas con disciplinas tales como la gen\u00e9tica forense, la antropolog\u00eda molecular o la gen\u00e9tica de poblaciones. se estudian aspectos tales como el desarrollo de t\u00e9cnicas de screening para el an\u00e1lisis de la variabilidad molecular del adnmt, la interpretaci\u00f3n y la valoraci\u00f3n estad\u00edstica de los perfiles de adnmt, la correlaci\u00f3n molecular entre ambas regiones hipervariables del adnmt, valoraci\u00f3n de heteroplasm\u00edas, bottlenecks y tasas de mutaci\u00f3n, etc. la memoria incluye asimismo los trabajos publicados en diversas revistas de car\u00e1cter internacional a los que han dado lugar los resultados obtenidos.  finalmente, se concluye en tres bloques
