El mecanismo mediante el cual produce \u00e9sta parece implicar la formaci\u00f3n de poros discretos de car\u00e1cter oligom\u00e9rico. El proceso de liberaci\u00f3n de contenidos acuosos se ajusta a un mecanismo todo o nada. la interacci\u00f3n con membranas modelo induce cambios conformacionales a nivel de estructura secundaria, que supone un aumento en su contenido de estructura beta. Bajo determinadas condiciones experimentales, alta temperatura y disoluciones con valores extremos de ph, stn ii, muestra estados parcialmente plegados, caracterizados por retener un elevado porcentaje de estructura secundaria regular, carecer de estructura terciaria nativa y poseer capacidad de unir sondas fluorescentes hidrof\u00f3bicas. la citolisina se comporta en disoluci\u00f3n como un sistema asociativo mon\u00f3mero-tetr\u00e1mero.  finalmente, se ha clonado y expresado el gen de la stn ii, lo que permitir\u00e1 modificar selectivamente residuos que puedan estar implicados en
