El an\u00e1lisis de la regi\u00f3n del rdna nuclear que comprende los dos espaciadores transcritos y la subunidad 5,5s (itsi-5,8s-itsii) confirm\u00f3 la relaci\u00f3n filogen\u00e9tica entre las dos especies de scedosporium (s.Prolificans y s.Apiospermum). Se estudi\u00f3 la resistencia intr\u00ednseca de s.Prolificans a los antif\u00fangicos, y en particular a la anfotericina b. Como alternativa a este problema se evaluaron combinaciones de antimicrobianos, encontr\u00e1ndose un resultado sin\u00e9rgico en el caso de la anfotericina b combinada con cicloheximida. La comparaci\u00f3n de aislados cl\u00ednicos y ambientales de s.Prolificans no revel\u00f3 diferencias que pudieran afectar a su virulencia. La amplificaci\u00f3n aleatoria de dna polim\u00f3rfico (rapd) y la amplificaci\u00f3n con iniciadores \u00fanicos dirigidos a secuencias de minisat\u00e9lites de eucariotas (\u00abpcr-fingerprinting\u00bb) se emplearon para tipificar cepas de s.Prolificans y estudiar dos brotes de infecciones hospitalarias causadas por s.Prolificans. Se aislaron mediante la luz ultravioleta mutantes de s.Prolificans deficientes en la s\u00edntesis de melanina que presentaron la misma resistencia a los antif\u00fangicos que la estirpe salvaje original. Tambi\u00e9n se desarroll\u00f3 un m\u00e9todo de transformaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica de s.Prolificans por electroporaci\u00f3n, empleando la resistencia a higromicina b como marcador de selecci\u00f3n,
