Tambi\u00e9n se ha puesto a punto un m\u00e9todo de purificaci\u00f3n de la enzima clonado en c\u00e9lulas de escherichia coli. Se ha realizado una caracterizaci\u00f3n estructural y funcional de la enzima usando, entre otros, estudios cin\u00e9ticos de modificaci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica, de uni\u00f3n de cofactor y de mutag\u00e9nesis dirigida. los efectos de inhibici\u00f3n por producto y de inactivaci\u00f3n ejercidos por el per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno tambi\u00e9n se han estudiado. Integrando los resultados obtenidos con los publicados anteriormente para \u00e9sta y otras oxidasas, se ha podido sugerir un modelo de mecanismo qu\u00edmico para la oxidaci\u00f3n de
