La gl\u00e1ndula mamaria de rata lactante expresa los transportadores glst y glt-1, pero no el eaac1.  el glt-1 tiene caracter constitutivo, mientras que el glst est\u00e1 sometido a reculaci\u00f3n. disminuyendo su expresi\u00f3n (mrma y proteina) tras el destete y el ayuno. Esta disminuci\u00f3n es independiente de la prolactina. en los astrocitos se expresan los transportadores glast, glt-1 y eaac1. durante el estr\u00e9s oxidativo se produce una disminuci\u00f3n de la actividad transportadora del l-glutamato por oxidaci\u00f3n de los transportadores, sin verse afectada la expresi\u00f3n ni la cantidad de prote\u00edna. La barrera hematoencef\u00e1lica expresa los transportadores glast, glt-1 y eaac1 en su lado antiluminal. Los transportadores de astrocitos y de la barrera hematoencef\u00e1lica son 2 mecanismos para mantener la concentraci\u00f3n de l-glutamato del l\u00edquido extracelular cerebral en concentraciones
